Sub: Amendment in Tatkal Scheme
Ref: Board’s letter of even number dated 28.9.2007(Commercial Circular
No. 76 of 2007)
Please refer to Board’s letter of even number dated 16.02.2009 (Commercial
Circular No. 09 of 2009) wherein it was advised that the facility extended to waitlist
passengers of trains having less than 50% tatkal quota utilization to opt for Tatkal
Scheme at the time of buying their ticket even before start of Advance Reservation Period
(ARP) of Tatkal booking for that train, should continue for the journeys commencing
upto 31.05.2009. CRIS was advised to ensure that the scheme does not get extended
beyond the above mentioned date unless expressly instructed/extended by Railway
Board.

The above decision was taken on the basis of feedback received from few zonal
Railways. The matter has been further reviewed and it has been decided that the scheme
may continue for a further period of 4 months i.e. upto 30.9.2009 till the information is
received from all zonal Railways. As such the scheme will remain in force till 30.9.2009.
East Central, Northeast Frontier, Southern, North Western and West Central
Railways who have not sent their feedback are requested to send the same without
further delay by 08.5.2009.
