Text of the circular

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA (Bharat Sarkar)
MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS (Rail Mantralaya)
(RAILWAY BOARD)
No. 2012/TG-I/20/JTBS
New Delhi dated 02.03.2012
Chief Commercial Managers,
All Zonal Railways,
(Commercial Circular No. 17 of 2012)
Sub:- Amendment in Jan Sadharan Ticket Booking Sewak (JTBS) Scheme.
Please refer to para 3(d) of this office letter No. 2007rrG-1 /201P dated
24.01.2008 (Commercial Circular No.8
of 2008) on the subject quoted above
which is as under:-
"Applicant should be a local resident of the area served by the station".
2.
A reference has been received from Central Railway wherein it has been
advised that the above said clause has become constraint in selecting JTBS in
Mumbai area as
Mumbai is a big metro city with dense population where all
stations are contiguous and it is difficult to decide whether the resident of the area
is a local resident of the area served by the station.
3.
The matter has been examined and it has been observed that the issue
raised by Central Railway is not exclusively applicable to Mumbai area but
universally applicable to all Metropolitan and other big cities. It has, therefore, been
decided to revise para. 3(d) of Commercial Circular NO.8of 2008 as under:-
IIApplicant should be residing in the municipal limits of the
city/district
in which JTBS is being appointed.
"
4.
Necessary action may be taken to send intimation to all concerned.

(Dr. Monica Agnihotri)
