Sub: Thermal paper for UTS.

Many applications have commenced with thermal printer, some of the examples
are issue of ticket through ATM and mobile ticketing, Suburban ticketing system
‘(moditied SPTMsjand Unseserved Ticketing System (UTS) are also, likely to be
switched over to thermal printer. Normai thermal paper which is available has three
serious draw backs:- CF नाप पाए sem

(a) The impression gets faded in some cases after 10 days or even after a

month. This raises serious security issues and can lead to frauds.
(b) Tickets can be rubbed off by alcohol.

Besides in thermal printer it is possible to built in lot of special security features
like bar code and a special character which can be cross checked.

Thus, whenever thermal printer is used for any tickeling application, the enclosed
specifications of the roll should always be observed. —

SPECIFICATIONS OF SPIM TICKET STATIONERY FOR
THERMAL PRINTERS

HWT385 - Top Coated Thermal Paper - A top coated high sensitivity,
heavy weight paper that provides good aesthetic characteristics and dark print
image. This paper is excellent for printing and provides long term archivability of |
both alpha numeric and graphic printing in the thermal printer. Paper should be
compatible with thermal printer of speed 3 IPS or higher . The thermal coating is
protected by an over coating to form a barrier between the thermal coating and
environmental factors. This paper offers protection against fade of the thermal
image. . ,

GSM of ticket should be of 130 GSM. In no’ case ticket should be below 130
GSM. The paper of ticket should be purchased from “A” Grade.Paper Mill

empanelled by Reserve Bank of India to make security paper.

The security Paper Mili would provide written undertaking for correctness of
GSM of paper. : !

The printing work of SPTM ticket in addition to Railway Press should be given to
ISO 9002 Printing Presses approved by Reserve Bank of Indfa/Indian Banker
Association as Security Printer having sufficient experience fh printing of Railway
ticket only. The frequent change of Printer(Printing Press)should be avoided, as

this could be a security hazard.

|The ticket serial number of SPTM ticket should be printed by-foolproof machine
numbering (Printing Press) System. In no case the ticket seria! number will be

printed by Dot Matrix/Inkjet or Laser Printer Technology

The printing Presses should give an undertaking that there will be synchronous
computerized record of serial numbers being printed on ticket-roll, to prevent ay

chance of extra ticket, duplicate tickets or tickets without number.

A team of (3) three JA Grade Officers should inspect the printing press before
placement of each and every order. The team should ensure that the facility to
print serial number on ticket is’ computerised with synchronous computerised
record maintained to prevent any mismatch in serial number. In no case order for
printing of tickets shall be placed without assessing capacity and keeping in view

of technical/financial capability and, security, pa
