(Commercial circular 86/2002)
The specifications of the ticket stationary for SPTM were advised to the zonal
Railways vide Boards letter dated 7.3.2002. The specifications for thermal stationary for
SPTM and UTS were also circulated to all zonal railways vide Board’s letter dated
27.9.2002 referred above.
Board had also conveyed vide their letter no. 2002/ C&IS/ AP/ 2006-07/UTS
policy dated 23.3.2006 (item number 2.2) that thermal printers have been sanctioned at
all UTS counters in the UTS works sanctioned in 2006-07. All zonal railways were
advised vide the minutes of meeting circulated vide letter number 2006/ C&IS/ WP/
2006-07/Correspondance/ 5 dated 19.6.2006 (item number ix) dated 23.3.2006 that
while procuring stationary for the thermal printers they should adhere to the quality,
standards and specifications conveyed in the Board’s Commercial circular number
86/2002. Subsequently, CRIS had also clarified vide GGM (PSA)’s/ CRIS letter number
CRIS/ UTS/ Thermal printer dated 25.9.2006, that since the thermal printers would not
require the sprockets, the overall width of the stationary may be accordingly reduced.
It has come to the notice of Board that some Railways have invited tenders for
thermal stationary with different and inappropriate specifications which might lead to
mismatch between the thermal stationary and thermal printer being used with UTS.
It is again reiterated that there have been no major changes in the specifications
of the thermal printer stationary except the following:
(a) The overall width of the ticket stationary should be 86 mm (3.38 inches) as the
sprockets are not required in case of thermal printers. (Item 8 of Annexure A)
(b) A pre-printed black mark of width 86 mm & height 4 mm on the reverse and
bottom of each ticket should be provided to facilitate the printer sensor to cut
individual ticket. (Item 17 of Annexure A)
Special attention is drawn to the fact that the printable area (78 mm by 59 mm) ~
(3.063 inch by 2.313 inch) of the thermal tickets would remain the same as circulated
vide Board Commercial Circular 86/2002.
To facilitate all railways to indent uniform thermal ticket stationery the
specifications are reiterated at Annexure A for the guidance of railways.
