: Sub: Thermal Printer for SP'TMs
There has been widespréad frauds which have-been reported on
SPTMs most of the frauds have happened due to printer: The printer need to
be made fraud free thernial printer is one such option. M/s CMC have tested
the thermal printer with following specifications:-

They have certified that such printers have beet tested in CMC lab
and can be fully integrated with both the versions i.e. existing and modified
SPTMs. They have also identified following firm whose thermal printers
havelbeen tested by them: . |

CRIS has also tested the thermal! printer in their UTS application from
M/s Lipi. ं

These thermal printers or any others equivalents may be tried at few
select stations on your railway and if they are able to eliminate the frauds,
they may be used for the purpose of ticket printing in existing SPTMs,
modified SPTMs and with UTS.
However, care should be taken that paper chosen for the tickeis should
have specifications as given.in Commercial Circular No.86 (copy attached),
so that the impression of the ticket on the thermal paper is lasting.
For mass scale deployment/replacement full techno-comiercial and
financial concurrence for thermal printers and approval of competent
authority be taken before changing all printers.
Action taken be advised to Railway Board

Many applications have commenced with thermal printer, some of the exainples
are issue of ticket through ATM and mobile ticketing. Suburban ticketing system
(modified SPTMsjand Unreset ved lickeling System (UTS) are also likely to be
switched over to thermal printer, Normal thermal paper which is available has three
serious draw backs:~ .

(a) . The impression gets faced tn soiie cases aller 10 days or,even-after a
month. This raises serious security issues and can lead to frauds.
