AT STATIONS & TRAINS

Sanitation at stations and On trains is a major chal lenge. Right now the process of

"Cleaning is manual and it is not liked by the staff The travelling public is also not

properly educated to keep the trains and _Stations hygienic and clean in dur country.
There are not deterrent punishments also for making the premises dirty.

The only way IR can make an impact and improve the sanitation is through
mechanized cleaning and by innovative and new processes. Introduction of mechanized
cleaning will improve the process and make productive use of the available manpower of
the Railways. Some machines have been tested only at few locations. The purchase of

these machines at high cost entail capital expenditure which should be kept minimum.

In order to quickly develop machine based cleaning system and processes for
improved sanitation, two approaches are Possible- ं fe
