Government of India (Bharat Sarkar) Ministry of Railways (Rail Mantralya) Rail Bhawan KEKEH No: 2008/TG-1/20/P/Tatkal New Delhi, Dated: 2¢ /06/2008 The Chief Commercial Managers, All Zonal Railways. (Commercial Circular No. 38 of 2008) Sub: Amendment in Tatkai quota. eed As per extant instructions, the following accommodation is being earmarked under Tatkal scheme:- Number of berths to be earmarked in trains witir= Class average occupancy level of Tatkal Quot: a aR 3A Air-Conditioned Chair Car 1 Sleeper Class 10% of the | 30% of the accommodation or one | accommodation. coach whichever is less Reserved Second Sitting (25) } 10% of the accommodation 1.1 _ Instructions also exist that in those trains where although the average utilization of Tatkal accommodation is less than 80% yet there is demand during certain specific periods, Tatkal accommodation to be earmarked during such identified specific periods will be the same as mentioned above. 2. While going through the utilization figures of Tatkal quota earmarked in various trains, it has been observed that the same is being underutilized in a number of trains during most of the month. In some trairis, it is not at all being utilized as utilization of even general accommodation is not full. This results in unnecessary blocking of berths which is not desirable. 3. Accordingly, the matter has been reviewed and it has been decided that the powers for earmarking of Tatkal accommodation in different classes should be delegated to Zonal Railways who should take a decision in this regard keeping in view the utilization pattern in that class during the previous financial year as well as availability of accommodation. The accommodation so earmarked should, however, in no case exceed the maximum Tatkal accommodation permissible to be earmarked as per extant instructions.
