No.2007/TG-I/20/P/Tatkal New Delhi, Dated: [4 /01/2008

The Chief Commercial Managers,
All Indian Railways.

(Commercial Circular No. 04 of 2008)
Sub: Amendment in Tatkal Scheme- Multiple Leg Booking.

In the current logic, bookings against Tatkal berths are being done as under:-

(i) Train Source to Train Destination.
(ii) Train Source to any ISL station other than destination.
(iii) | Remote location to Train Destination.

2. Recently as per this office letter of even number dated 28/09/2007
(Commercial Circular No.76 of 2007) in trains having less than 50% utilisation of
Tatkal Quota in Sleeper Class, booking has been permitted from anywhere to
anywhere.

3. With a view to optimize the utilisation of Tatkal berths, the issue regarding
multiple booking of berths earmarked under Tatkal Scheme has been examined in
consultation with CRIS and it has been decided that in the trains identified as per
scheme mentioned in para-2 above, the berths earmarked under Tatkal quota will be
booked for multiple legs of journeys which means that partially used vacant berth
can be allotted at the time of booking itself to subsequent Tatkal Quota passengers
who want to travel on unutilized portion of that berth. :

4. CRIS has already made necessary modifications in the software and released
the same for implementation.

5. Necessary action may please be taken accordingly:
