Sub: Installation of Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) at 440
locations over Indian Railways.

Please refer to this office letter of even number dated 29.6.2007 regarding
instillation of ATMs by Indian Overseas Bank, UCO Bank, UTI Bank, HDFC Bank,
ICICI Bank, J&K Bank, Bank of India, Bank of Rajasthan and Syndicate Bank at
441 locations. Syndicate Bank expressed its inability to proceed further with the
proposal. The time period upto 31-03-2008 was given to the Banks for installation of
ATMs, which has since expired. Since the banks have encountered a number of
difficulties in installation of ATMs, they have requested to extend the validity period.
The matter has been reviewed and it has been decided that the validity period
for installation of ATMs by these eight banks may be extended upto 30.9.2008.
Zonal Railways may take all necessary steps to ensure expeditious instillation of
ATMs as per terms and conditions.
