Sub: Installation of Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) at
1393 Railway Stations on Indian Railway by SBI and
six other nationalised banks
Ministry of Railways had signed Memoranda of Understanding
(MoU) with State Bank and six other nationalised banks (Bank of Baroda,
Canara Bank, Dena Bank, Indian Bank, Punjab National Bank and Union
Bank of India) for installation of Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) at
1393 locations. The validity of MoU which was due to expire in Nov 2007
was extended upto 31.3.2008 vide Board commercial circular nos. 94 of
2007 and 1 of 2008.
Since the banks have encountered number of difficulties in installation
of ATMs, they have requested to extend the validity of the MoU by another
six months.
The matter has been reviewed and it has been decided to extend the
validity of the MoU for installation of ATMs by these seven banks by
another six months i.e upto 30.9.2008. Zonal Railway may take all necessary
steps to ensure expeditious installation of ATMs as per terms and conditions
mentioned in the MoU and standard agreement.
