Instructions have been reiterated to all zonal railways from time to time to keep — a watch on the utilisation of tatkal coaches and withdraw this facility from those trains - in which the scheme is not being adequately patronized. Similarly, for those trains where there is a long waiting list in the train‘over a considerable period of the year, the railway can take a decision to attach tatkal coaches subject to operational feasibility under intimation to this office. However, it has been observed from. the utilisation figures received from zonal railways that railways are still continuing with tatkal coaches on some trains where utilisation is poor. It has alsu been observed that in some trains, railways have attached two coaches of one class despite having poor utilisation e.g. in 2954 August Kranti-Rajdhani,Express ¢x.Nizamuddin two AC-3 tier coaches have been earmarked as tatkal coaches. The utilisation of these coatli¢s is very poor except in one or two months in a year The matter has, therefore, been reviewed in this office and it has been decided that in no case in any train more than one tatkal coach of a particular class should be earmarked. In those trains, where more than one tatkal coach of a particular class has been earmarked, the same should be withdrawn with immediate’ effect and made available for booking by general public.
