Sub: Policy on earmarking of berths on demand from IRCTC
for Value Added Tour (VAT) Packages.

Please refer to this office letter no. 2000/TG-I/20/N/14 dated
27.10.2006 (CC No. 92 of 2006), 01.02.2007 (CC No. 22 of 2007) &
28.09.2007 (CC No. 86 of 2007) on the subject quoted above.

2. The issue regarding earmarking of accommodation for Value Added
Tour Packages of IRCTC has been reviewed and it has been decided as
under:-

(i) The accommodation earmarked for VAT packages may be
reviewed periodically and wherever it is found that these
packages are being poorly patronized, the accommodation so
earmarked may be reduced or withdrawn.

Gi) IRCTC will ensure that the names of the passengers booked for
VAT are furnished at least 72 hours before the scheduled
departure of the train as per para 5.3 of Commercial Circular
No. 92 of 2006. Zonal Railways will ensure that these
berths/seats are released to general passengers immediately
after the stipulated time limit for submission of names by. .

(iii) Regional Heads of IRCTC will issue a certificate for each
accommodation earmarked for VAT package is being utilized
for bonafide passengers who have booked it under VAT
package.

(iv) The utilization of VAT packages will be furnished by IRCTC
every month along with their MCDO sent to Board’s office.
