Sub:- Provision of separate dustbins for biodegradable (wet) and non-
biodegradable (dry) waste at major railway stations.

Ref:- Commercial circular No. 45 of 2011.

This is to bring to your notice that detailed instructions and procedural order for
handling wastes arising out of catering services from Pantry Cars and Static units have
been issued vide Board's letter No. 2011/TG-III/600/45 dated 13/09/2011 (CC No. 45 of
2011). It has been decided to amend clause No. 10 of procedural order for handling waste
and their disposal arising out of Pantry car services and clause 4 of disposal of waste for
static units as under;

Clause 10 of procedural order for handling
waste and their disposal arising out of
pantry car services :- Two separate
dustbins with polythene liner bags for
collection of bio-degradable (wet) waste and
non bio-degradable (dry) waste viz. Green for
bio-degradable and black for  non-
biodegradable waste shall be provided and
shall be sufficient in size to ensure all
collections.

Clause 4 of disposal of waste for Static
units:- Two separate dustbins for collection
of bio-degradable (wet) waste and non bio-
degradable (dry) waste viz. Green for bio-
degradable and black for non-biodegradable
waste shall be provided and shall be sufficient
in size to ensure all collections.

Clause 10 of procedural order for
handling waste and their disposal
arising out of pantry car services :-
The refuse bins (with three colours) so
nominated will be prominently painted in
Green (for Bio-degradable waste), White
(for recyclable waste) & Black (all other
waste i.e. other than bio-degradable
waste and recyclable waste) and shail be
sufficient in size to ensure all collections.
Clause 4 of disposal of waste for
Static units:- The nominated refuse bins
shail be prominently painted in Green (for
Bio-degradable waste), White (for
recyclable waste) & Black (all other waste
i.e. other than bio-degradable waste and
recyclable waste) and shall be sufficient
in size to ensure all collections.

This issues in consultation with EnHM Directorate of Railway Board.
