Goods Train Without BV/Guard

Every running train shall be provided with one or more Guards.
The Guard of a running train shall travel in his brake van.
In an emergency, goods trains can be worked without Guard or BV under special Instructions.
Sr DOM/DOM can order trains without Guard.

The following precautions are to be followed

a) When there is NO BV-
	The train shall be fully vacuum/Air 	braked and certified fit by the Train 	Examiner.
	The Guard shall travel in the engine.
	The painted No. of the last vehicle shall
          be intimated to the controller by SM at 	train starting station.
	Controller shall ensure the last vehicle 	No., is obtained from the SM before  giving 	permission to start the train.

Caution Order issued to LP on non provision.
SM on duty intimate painted number of LV to SM on duty ahead while asking line clear.
The last vehicle No. to be entered in the TSR
Tail board/lamp fixed on last vehicle.
Speed of the train: Prescribed speed
The Gd. And LP keep a good look out during run.
When trains stop at station for crossing/ precedence SM to verify Painted no. of LV and communicate same to controller.
Prohibited during TIC.

 b) When there is NO Guard
The trains shall be fully vacuum / Air braked and certified fit by the TXR.
Caution Order issued to LP on non provision of GD.
The duty of guard shall devolve on LP.
TB / TL fixed in last vehicle.
Speed: Normal.
LP shall keep a sharp lookout during run to ensure intactness of the train.

Completeness of the train and clearance of the FM at stopping stations for crossing/precedence shall be ensured by on duty SM.
Exchange PN with SM in rear to confirm complete arrival of the train.
Running of trains without guard is prohibited during TIC, tempestuous weather and TSL.

C) When there is NO BV and Guard

The procedure applicable for train running without Guard shall also be applicable here.

Running of short pilots and goods trains without brake van and guard shall be resorted only in unavoidable necessity.

In IBP sections in absolute, when a train left without Guard, subsequent train not to be started till the train w/o Guard arrive at next station.

In automatic section, when a Train without B V left a station, No train allowed until the preceding train W/O BV arrived complete at next  advance Station.

In automatic area, No train allowed to follow until preceding train left without guard arrived complete at next station.

Working of trains without Guard/BV/Both not permitted during TIC and in Ghat sections.
