In absolute block system, essentials G.R. 8.01 says: - No train shall be allowed to leave a block station unless line clear has been received from the block station in advance. To obtain line clear there are authorized means of communication provided with SM. When all the means of communication failed and thereby line clear cannot be obtained, it is said to be Total Interruption of Communication (TIC). <!-- Slide number: 4 --> The following procedure shall be adopted for running Trains between two Station on a Double Line section, when Line Clear cannot be obtained by any one of the following means of communication: Block Instruments/ Track Circuit/ Axle Counters Block Telephone Station to Station fixed telephone, where provided Fixed telephones such as Railway Auto phone & BSNL phone Control telephone VHF sets <!-- Slide number: 5 --> The Train shall be stopped and LP &Guard shall be advised of the situation. In D/L section the direction of the traffic (DoT) is already established. On D/L sections, DoT is the direction for which the line is provided with the signals. T/C 602 issued as Authority to Proceed and it contains, An Authority to Proceed without Line Clear. Authority to Pass LSS at ON. A caution Order restricting the Speed to, 25 KMPH- View ahead is clear 10 KMPH- View ahead is not Clear due to curve/obstruction/rain/ any other reason <!-- Slide number: 6 --> All despatch signals except LSS can be taken off for the Trains. The LP shall Be guided by a Railway Employee with Hand signals wherever the view ahead is not clear. Enter a Tunnel with Head lights/Side lights/ Tail lights lit and only if the Tunnel is clear. If any doubt Train shall be piloted by a Railway employee with Hand signals and Detonators. In all cases keep a sharp look out and whistle frequently. <!-- Slide number: 7 --> The Guard shall keep a sharp look out in the rear and be prepared to show a Hand danger signal in case of any approaching Train and protect if necessary. In case of stoppage in Block Section for any reason the Guard shall immediately show a Hand danger signal towards rear & ensure that the Tail Board/ Tail lamp is available. <!-- Slide number: 8 --> Protection: If stoppage is on account of Accident/ Failure/ Obstruction/ any other exceptional cause OR Train detained outside signals for more than 10 minutes the LP shall advise Guard & Guard shall protect the Train by placing one Detonator at 250meters and two Detonators at 10 meters apart at 500 meters In the absence of Guard the ALP shall protect the Train. <!-- Slide number: 9 --> Backing: Shall not be done. In unavoidable circumstances the Train may be backed only after protecting the place upto which the Train is to be backed by placing Detonators. After reaching the Station in advance with this authority, The LP shall stop at FSS <!-- Slide number: 10 --> Give a long continuous whistle If the delay exceeds 10 minutes, protect the Train and send ALP to Station. SM can receive the Train by Taking OFF the reception signals only after the Train come to a stop at FSS. On arrival, the LP shall hand over T/C 602 to the SM. Fixed signals except the LSS may be taken ‘OFF’ for the despatch and reception of trains. FSS shall, however, be taken off only after the train has been brought to a stand outside it. <!-- Slide number: 11 --> Subsequent Trains: can be started with T/C 602 at a clear interval of 30 minutes. Entry for all the Trains shall be made in Red Ink in TSR. Restoration: Trains shall be worked in this manner until any one of the means of communication is restored by S&T officials. <!-- Slide number: 12 --> If anyone communication is restored, S
