Sab: Provision of companion in leu of Attendant to senior citizen
1 class’ TA’ pest retirement complimentary pass holders
Arising out of the demand made by staff side in the JCM/DC, the question
of providing the facility of companion in lieu of Attendant to senior citizen retired
Railway employees holding [ class‘! 'A’ post retirement complimentary passes has
been under examination of the Ministry at Railways for quite some time. Alter
earciul consideration, Ministry of Raihvays have now decided te allow the facilthy
of a companion in lieu of Attendant to seuiur citizen | class'T "A' post retirement
complimentary pass holders. subject to the following conditions:
(li. The facility of a companion will be provided only on the post-retirement
complimentary [st and TA‘ passes in which there is already @ provision to
carry an Attendant as per the Railway Servants (Pass) Rules, 1986.
{2} The facilily of a companion wil be allowed only to retired railway
servants whe are above ihe age 07 65 years.
{3} The facility of companion in liu of attendant will be permitted only when
the pass hoider and/or ehigible members of family above the age of 65
years will be travelling along with the companion in Sleeper class. In
other words, if any other eligible member of the family below the age of
65 yoars is included im the pass then the facility of travel tm Sieeper Class

2. Accordingly senior citizen tallway employees will have the option either
to carry an "Attendant" in Sleeper class‘If Class while themselves travelling in |
class AC 2-tier or to carry a companion in Sieeper class/lT class wn lieu of an
Attendant if the pass holders themselves travel in Sleeper class} class. In case a
companion is provided, the pass issuing authorities shall take a specific request {oT
the same and alsa mention the ages of the persons included im the pass, and ihe
following endorsement shall be made on the pass
"Companion in teu of Attendant pennitted when
(he Pass hotder travels tn Sleeper class/H] class”
3. In all other respects the provisions of the Railway Servants (Pass} Rutes.
