Commercial Circutar No. 53 /2013 Sub: Up-gradation of Companion to First Class/Ist A Post Retirement Complimentary Pass/Widow Pass holder who are of 70 years of age and above, by On-board. ticket checking staff. Instructions were issued vide Board’s letter No.E(W)/96/PS§ 5-8/2 dated 09.09.2009 stipulating that retired Railway employees/Widows of 70 years of age and above’ who are entitled to Ist Class/Ist ‘A’ Post Retirement Complimentary/Widow Passes can take a companion in same class by paying 1/3" of the difference of fare between Sleeper Class/IInd class and the higher class in which the retired Railway employee/widow travels, in all trains including Rajdhani/Shatabdi trains, subject to the existing restriction regarding number of berths in Rajdhani/Shatabdi trains. 2. A clarification has been sought as to whether On-board ticket checking staff can such up-gradation of companion in the train on realization of requisite difference of fare 3. The matter has been examined and it has been decided that On-Board ticket - checking staff may be allowed to upgrade the companion of retired Railway employees of 70 years and above on realization of 1/3" difference of fare as per rule stipulated in Board’s letter No.E(W)96 5-8/2 dated 09.09.2009 subject to the following conditions: i, On-board ticket checking staff should ensure that necessary endorsement on this account is made on the Pass and the age of employee should be 70 years or above. li. | The details of the pass should also be indicated on the EFT issued for this purpose by the Ticket Checking staff. 4.
