Sub: Permission for travel of Escorts in Goods Train.

Ref: Board’s Rates Circular No. 33 of 2014 dated 26.09.2014.

1.0 Interms of Para 2 of Rates Circular No. 33 of 2014 dated 26.09.2014, it was
decided to insert a Sub Para (3) to Rule No. 136 of Goods Tariff No. 41 Pt. | Vol. 1.

2.0 The matter has been reviewed and it has been decided that Rule 136 (3)
mentioned in Para 2 of Board’s Rates Circular under reference may be read as
under:

Rule 136 (3)

(a) Unless otherwise provided, escorts of consignor/consignee, in respect of
rakeload movement of any commodities which are susceptible to theft and pilferage
enroute, may be allowed to travel in brakevan of such rakes on receipt of request
from consignor/consignee on payment of Second Class Ordinary fare. The Railway
Administration will accept no responsibility for any damage, loss or injury to the
escorts arising out of their journey. The consignor must execute an Indemnity Note
(as required in Rule 337 of IRCM Vol. 1) before the commencement of the journey.

(b) A separate written authority be issued to the escort in the following form:

सवा holding Second Class ticket No is permitted to
travel as escort in the brakevan of the rake booked under Invoice
No.......... dated........... An Indemnity Note had been executed by the Consignor”.

3.0 All other details of the Board’s Rates Circular under reference will remain the
same.
