Chief Commercial Manager All Zonal Railways Sub: Classification of Railway Premises (goods sheds/stations) Ref: (i)Chapter II of Rates Master Circular/Demurrage- Wharfage- Waiver/2016/0 ) Board's letter No. 'C-1/2021/201/e-file/Wharfage(3347317) dt.16.07.2021 (iii) Board's letters of even number dt.28.08.2023 and dt.23.07.2024 Reference has been received from one of the Zonal Railway seeking clarification whether Railway Material Consignment (RMC) rakes which are handled at mid section but booked under nearby goods shed may be included or not for the purpose of classification of goods shed. The matter has been examined in consultation with Freight Marketing branch of Railway Board and it is to clarify that — a) For the purpose of classification of a railway premise (goods shed/station), rakes which are handled on goods handling line(s) of the terminal should be taken into account for the purpose of classification. b) Only such RMC rakes. which are handled on goods handling lines of the railway goods shed/station, should be taken into account, for the purpose of classification of goods shed. Zonal Railways (PCCM/PCOM) may review the classification of railway premises (goods shed/station) based on the above. CRIS/FOIS will make requisite provision in the system in coordination with concerned Zonal Railways. This issues with the approval of competent authority.
