Sub: Provision of pre-booking facility for passengers of Mail/Exp. Trains through IT based
module.
 
In order to bring improvement in passenger services and as a measure to curb the concerns
of overcharging, it has been decided to provide pre-booking facility to the passengers of
Mail/Express trains while booking their journey tickets. 
 
In view of the above, CRIS is advised to develop the module ‘e-Aahar@Pantry’ on NGeT
platform to facilitate passengers with a pre-booking facility. It is also advised that this
module should be made part of the SuperApp being developed. 
 
Detailed modalities of this scheme are enclosed as Annexure-1.
Necessary action may be taken in accordance with the above, in coordination with IRCTC,
to ensure expeditious development of the module and enable its implementation at the
earliest. The launch date shall be fixed accordingly and intimated to this office.
 
This has approval of the Competent Authority.

Annexure-1
Modalities of the Scheme
Features :
 
a.  
The module ‘e-Aahar@Pantry’ would facilitate passengers with an option to pre-book
 meals, beverages (Tea/Coffee) and PDW through the Pantry Car of the Mail/Express tr
ains.
 
b.  
Development of the module will be undertaken by CRIS on NGeT platform.

Option of booking meals/beverages/PDW would be provisioned only for CNF/RAC/Pa
rt CNF tickets, at the time of booking and thereafter also during the journey. 
 
d.  
An SMS link to book food items would also be sent to waitlisted passengers upon ticket
 confirmation by PRS. 
 
e.  
The booked food amount would be collected by IRCTC on NGeT platform and the con
cerned onboard licensee would be paid directly by IRCTC against completion of satisfa
ctory order deliveries. 
 
f.  
The e-Aahar@Pantry module to book food through pantry car would be undertaken as 
a pilot project in 25 trains/100 rakes and proliferated subsequently. 
 
g.  
Pre-booking facility would be made available on the tariff already fixed. No extra charg
e shall be levied to passengers.
 
 
Process flow: 
1 Booking of meal:- 
 
Through ‘Book Food’ pop-up after ticket booking and ‘Book Food’ tab in Booked Ticket
 History or through SMS link →→ Enter PNR →→ Day-wise display of food & beverag
es based on journey details.
 
2 Availability of booking facility:- 
 
Immediately after a CNF/RAC/Part CNF train ticket is booked and upto Train Charting.
 
 
After train charting and on run : Breakfast ( upto 22.00 hrs of previous day),  Lunch  (upto
 10.00 hrs on day of service), Dinner ( upto 15.00 hrs on day of service), Rail Neer (upto 
21.00 hrs on day of service), Morning Tea/Coffee - upto 09.00 hrs on day of service, Eve
ning Tea/Coffee - upto 18.00 hrs on day of service subject to minimum delivery time of 1:
00 hr. for tea/coffee and PDW.
 
3 Service Selection, Payments & Order Creation:-
 
Number of Breakfast, Lunch/ Dinner, Rail Neer and Tea/Coffee can be selected through a
 drop-down menu depending upon duration/days of journey. The total payable amount w
ould accordingly be calculated and reflected on the portal for booking. 
 
 
On food booking, a confirmation mail of payment receipt and service delivery details will

be sent to the passenger on SMS/Whatsapp.
 
4 Delivery of Orders:- 
 
Delivery timings : Breakfast - 06:00 hrs-10:00 hrs., Lunch - 13:00 hrs-15:00 hrs, Dinner -
 19:00 hrs-22:00 hrs, Rail Neer - 06:00 hrs-22:00 hrs, Tea/Coffee (Morning) - 06:00 hrs- 
10:00 hrs, Tea/Coffee (Evening) - 16:00 hrs-1
