Instructions issued from time to time laying down guidelines for halt stations are as under:

These guidelines have been reviewed. Competent Authority -have now-carried out certain amendments in
the policy guidelines for halt stations

Accordingly, revised comprehensive guidelines on Halt stations (Master Circular) is enclosed herewith for
information and necessary action with immediate effect.
This issues with the concurrence of Finance Directorate of Ministry of Railways.

1.0 | Opening of Halt Station under General Manager’s Power: ening of Halt Station under General Manager’s Power:

A: halt station can be opened under General Manager’s powers without ‘referring such
a case to Ministry of Railways for approval when
_E,1~ . There is a financial justification for opening a halt station; . पं
1.2 The site of the proposed halt is at least 5 kms in the non-suburban areas and 2 Kms
in suburban area, from the stations/halts on either side
. 13:.. “The proposal is feasible both from Operating & Engineering poitits of view; .
A4 x. The opening of a new halt station is otherwise remunetative but‘ infringes the
minimum: distance limitation of 5: kms for non-suburban stations and 2 kins’ for suburban
stations
