When a Train stopped in midsection due to,
	Accident or Inability to Haul Train forward,
LP shall,
Apprise Guard by giving ----- o ----- o .
Try to bring Train to a stop at a level.
Guard protect Train in Rear by placing,
1Detonator at 600 m & 3at10 m apart @1200 m

# Guard & LP proceed to meet each other on LHS of Train. If they decide to detach Engine with or without a portion, then :-

| Gradient | Hand Brakes to be applied |
| --- | --- |
| Flatter than 1 in 600 | BV+18 V(9 from Eng+9 from BV) |
| 1 in 600 or Steeper | BV+ All Vs |
| In addition 2 wedges also placed at either end below last pair of wheels to prevent vehicles rolling back. |  |

After Protection & Securing Rear portion, Guard shall,
Prepare Form T/609 in Duplicate.
Mention LV Number of Front portion.
Recover any Tangible/ Paper ATP & sign for it in LP’s RJB.
H/O original to LP, ack in duplicate
T L /T B not be fixed on L V of Front portion.

At Night/Thick/Foggy/Tempestuous  weather, Guard shall,
Protect the left over portion.
Fix RED light in leading vehicle of the left portion.
LP proceeding to next Station shall

Stop at Home Signal even it is at ‘OFF’ and
Warn SM with ------ 0 ------ 0 whistle, to indicate its incomplete arrival.
Then start train and H/O memo to SM after stopping train at convenient place
On receipt of info SM advise other end SM& SCOR about incidence.
Receive Train and not clear Block section.

On arrival at Station, LP  H/O  T/609 to SM.
SM to ensure complete arrival of Front Portion by checking T/609.
SM prepare STUB Portion of T/609 as ATP.
Despatch same Engine / Any other RE to clear Rear Portion.

While returning to pick up Rear Portion LP shall
Proceed cautiously not exceeding 25 KMPH
Stop his Engine on sighting Rear portion
Proceed further on Guard’s Hand signals for attaching.

After Rear Portion brought out of section and Section clear,
Guard shall hand over
Tangible/ Paper ATP, if any.
Prepare certificate for section clear to SM
Get acknowledgement for both from SM.
Duty of SM,GD & LP to check tonnage of train.
If more than one split, same procedure followed for clearing each portion.

If Engine of a Passenger Train unable to haul load or defective, then
Engine shall not be detached.
Train shall be protected till relief Engine arrives.
Inform SCOR / nearest SM for arranging relief with available means of communication duly indicating the KM at which Loco and also SLR .

# Reasons for parting
WHILE STARTING
Sometimes, passers-by who cross tracks operate CBC handles. Train parting may occur shortly after leaving station
FALLING GRADIENTS & ‘HUMP’ SECTIONS
Sudden releasing of notches causes sudden bunching of train and jerks may lead to train parting.
NEGOTIATING A “TROUGH”
Notching up with partially released train brakes may cause train to part while negotiating raising portion.

# Reasons for parting
UNDULATED TERRAIN
Frequent changes in notches cause stress on couplings and may lead to train parting.
PASSING SIGNALS TAKEN OFF ON APPROACH
Quick notching up before train brakes have released fully. May lead to train parting

If any portion of a Train parted while in motion,
LP shall not stop Front portion
Keep running until he aware that Rear portion brought to a stop
Whistle ----- o ----- o to inform Guard.
No railway employee should show HD signal when a train parted instead show train parting signal to GDR.

Guard in Rear portion shall
take all efforts to prevent collision
Promptly apply hand brakes wherever provided
try to stop re
