            Sub:  Blocking of more than one berth in the name of same person.

During the checks conducted recently on different Zonal Railways, cases of 
booking of accommodation by ex. MPs who are also ex. MLAs using both the 
authorities i.e. Identity Card issued by Lok Sabha/Rajya Sabha Secretariat and 
MLAs coupon have Come to notice, thereby blocking more than one berth in the 
name of one person in the same class as well as the same train on a particular date. 
 
The matter has been examined and it has been decided that::- 
 
1. If any Member of Parliament is found to have made multiple booking in the 
same train, he/she will be allowed to retain the number of berths allotted to 
him(for himself, his/her spouse and companion)in his/her capacity of Member 
of Parliament and rest of the berths shall be released. 
 
2. In case any ex. Member of Parliament who also happens to be MLA/Ex. MLA 
makes multiple booking in his/her name on same/different authorities, he/she 
shall be allowed to retain berth(s) for himself/his family allotted to him on any 
one authority and rest of the berths shall be released. 
 
It is clarified that these instructions are not applicable in case of those who 
have been allowed officially to block more than one berths in their name even when 
traveling alone viz. HOR holders, Gold pass holders etc. 
 
 
Necessary action may be taken accordingly and receipt of this letter may be 
acknowledged.
