No.TCII/2910/2007 (.)  Reference Ministry of Railways’ letter of even number 
dated 23.3.07 (Commercial Circular No. 31 of 2007) wherein, inter-alia, the 
second class fare for non-superfast Mail/Express trains over non-suburban 
sections has been reduced by Re. 1/- (.)  Ministry of Railways have decided that 
there will be two series of second class Superfast Surcharge tickets (.)  The first 
series will be for Rs. 8/- which will be sold to season ticket holders and those 
persons who directly purchase ticket for superfast Mail/Express trains (.)  The 
second series will be for Rs. 9/-, showing Rs. 8/- as superfast surcharge and Re. 
1/- as the difference of fare, which will be issued to those persons who have 
initially purchased ticket for non-superfast Mail/Express train and subsequently 
approach the counter for buying the superfast surcharge ticket only (.)  
Accordingly, the Zonal Railways may print two series of superfast surcharge 
tickets and modify the UTS programme, on priority (.)  When some passenger 
comes to the counter to buy only superfast surcharge ticket, the booking clerk will 
ask him to produce his single journey/season ticket (.)  If he is holding single 
journey non-superfast Mail/Express ticket, he will be issued the Superfast 
Surcharge ticket of Rs. 9/- i.e. Rs. 8/- for superfast surcharge and Re. 1/- for 
difference of fare (.)  Necessary instructions may be issued to all concerned 
immediately and action taken immediately on priority (.)  This issues with the 
concurrence of Finance Directorate of Ministry of Railways (.)  Matter most
