(COMMERCIAL CIRCULAR NO.47 OF 2013)

Sub: Uniformity in logic for allotment of accommodation in different
PRS sites for boarding point changed transaction

memes tate

At present, if a passenger intends to board the train from a Station other than
journey originating station indicated on the ticket, the same can be done in two
ways:

a) At the time of booking itself, the passenger gives the option for boarding the
train from his/her station other than the journey originating station indicated
on the ticket.

b) After booking the ticket, the passenger gives in writing for changing his/her
boarding point.

1.1 Incase of giving the option at the time of booking itself, different practice is
being followed by different reservation system i.e. in case of Delhi, Chennai and
Kolkata PRS, the passenger gets access to the reservation quota of changed boarding
point and not the reservation quota of journey originating station indicated on the
ticket. However, in case of Mumbai PRS, the passenger gets access to the
reservation quota of journey originating station.

1.2 In case of giving the option for change of boarding point after booking of
ticket, the passenger continues to get access to reservation quota of journey
originating station indicated on the ticket and his status gets updated against that
quota and not of the changed boarding point.

2. With a view to have uniformity in logic of giving access to reservation quota
of journey originating station or the changed boarding point, the matter has been
examined and it has been decided that if a passenger gives the option at the time of
booking the ticket itself for boarding the train from a station other than journey
originating station indicated on the ticket, the passenger will be given access to the
reservation quota of the journey originating station indicated on the ticket and not of
the changed boarding point subject to provisions of Para 637 of Indian Railway
Commercial Manual - 01.1.
