Ref: Railway Board’s letters No. E(W)95/PS 5-6/61 dated 23-02-1596 and 20-05-1999 and E(W)97/PS 5-6/34 dated 10-09-1997 As per extant policy, Ministry of Railways provides 1% Class/2™ AC Complimentary Card passes to meritorious sports-persons who are Arjuna Awardees, Olympic Medalists, Gold Medalists in Asian or Commonwealth Games or Dronacharya Awardees. The said Card pass entitles them life-long free rail travel for self only in 1* Class/2™ AC over all-Indian Railways (except Metro Railway/Kolkata) by any train other than Rajdhani/ Shatabdi trains. The policy further prescribes that sports-person is entitled to facility of a companion in the same Class on the aforesaid Card pass on attaining the age of 65 years. Railway Board’s letters mentioned. above refer in this regard. - 2, It has now been decided by Ministry of Railways that Complimentary Card passes issued to sports-persons who are Arjuna Awardees shall henceforth be valid for travel in 2 AC/3™ AC in Rajdhani trains and Chair Car (CC) in Shatabdi trains besides being valid for travel in 1* Class/2™ AC in other Mail/Express trains (except Duronto trains), It has been further decided that the companion allowed at the age of 65 years shall also be entitled to travel in the same Class _along with Arjuna Awardees in Rajdhani/Shatabdi trains. It may be further mentioned that aforesaid travel facility by Rajdhani/Shatabdi trains shall be admissible only to Arjuna Awardees and not to other sports-persons who are provided with Complimentary Card passes. 3.
