(COMMERCIAL CIRCULAR NO.43 OF 2014) Sub: Reservation - group/families travelling together being treated as one unit. As per extant instructions, Zonal Railways have been authorised to delegate the powers for group reservation/party booking to various levels prescribing the extent to which each level can permit such booking. The railways have also been allowed to impose local restrictions to curb any malpractices. 2. References were received from some Zonal Railways regarding inconvenience caused to the passengers due to different timings being followed by Zonal Railways for allowing group booking on the opening day of reservation. Accordingly, comments were called for from Zonal Railways. 3. The matter has been examined accordingly and it has been decided that on the opening day of reservation, bulk reservation at the party booking counter should be permitted from 09:00 a.m., i.e. one hour after the opening of reservation. Zonal Railways may, however, continue to impose other local restrictions in order to prevent misuse. 4. Necessary instructions may be issued to all a (Dr. S.K.
