Sub: Extension of Tatkal Scheme.

1. The subject of extension of Tatkal Scheme in all trains in
- various classes was under consideration in the Ministry of
Railways. The matter has been examined in detail and a copy of
revised Tatkal “Scheme framed is enclosed The main
modifications made in this scheme are as under: -

i) Instead of full coach being presently nominated as
Tatkal coach, there will be Tatkal quota in each train in
2A, 3A, AC Chair Car and Sleeper classes as under: -

2A - 4 berths per coach

3A न 6 berths per coach

Air Conditioned- 6 seats per coach

Chair Car

SL: न 10% of accommodation or one

coach whichever is less.

ii) There will be no separate Tatkal train defined in PRS.
The unutilized Tatkal quota will get released to
waitlisted passengers. )

iii) Provision of I/Card has been deleted on an experimental _
basis for six months after which this will be reviewed.
Zonal Railways may send the feedback in this regard
three months after implementation of this scheme.

iv)  Tatkal charges have been revised as under: -

2. Zonal Railways may kindly take necessary action for
working out Tatkal quota in each train in Sleeper, 3AC, 2AC
and Chair Car classes for the trains originating on their railway
and take necessary action for defining them as Tatkal quota.
Necessary intimation may be sent td all concerned. Wide
publicity should be given to the features of Tatkal Scheme
through print media. A suitable board displaying the salient
features of the Tatkal Scheme should also be displayed at the
reservation centers. .

3. These instructions are in supercession of all the
instructions issued regarding Tatkal Scheme in the past.

4. It has been decided in the meeting of CCM (PMs) in
Board’s office on 26/08/2004 that the revised scheme will be
implemented in all the PRS trains w.e.f. 147 November 2004
ie. the booking of Tatkal accommodation in all the PRS trains
in 4 defined classes as above will commence from 14/11/2004
for journey commencing on 15/11/2004 at the originating point
& so on.
