Sub: Catering ~ Revised Tariff for Tea/ Coffee, Breakfast and standard meals,
The tariff and menu of standard Meals, Breakfast, Tea/Coffee was last revised on 24,6,99
ea / Coffee were done on 26.9.2000.

On receipt of representations from various quarters to review the tariff and menu of

standard meals/breakfast, tea & coffee, Board had constituted a Committee to study and suggest

revision of tariff and menu of standard meals. Report of the Committee was examined in Board’s

office in consultation with Finance Dte. of Railway Board'and the’ following revision was approved

by the Ministry of Railways.

Packaged drinking water: At present packaged drinking water js Supplied in water
Pouches of 300 पा! to the Passengers alongwith the standard casserole meals. Instead
of these-water Pouches 300. mi BIS certified packaged: drinking water in sealed
disposable glass be made available alongwith the meals to the Passengers, This
will be more convenient from the Passenger} point of view and it has a longer shelf-

Zonal Railways should display and notify the revised tariff at stations (in Refreshment
Rooms/stalls) and also through rate list in pantry cars. The waiters/bearers should also be given
detailed menu cards indicating revised rates. Revised tariff may be given adequate publicity through

media, both print and electronic and also through Railway time tables so that there are no complaints
from any quarter: in this regard.

Surprise checks should be conducted to exercise strict regulation and control on the
departmental units as well as units managed by the licencees to ensure that there is no over charging
and prescribed quantity only is served. Under no circumstances railway should charge different rates
as rates of these items are determined at the Railway Board level, Any deficiency or slackness in this
regard should be viewed seriously and stringent action taken against the defaulters.

The revised rates will come into effect from 01.06.2003.

This issues with the concurrence of Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways. Please
acknowledge receipt of this letter.
