Sub: Catering + Revised Tariff for tea/ coffee.
The menu and tariff of tea, coffee and Standard
meals were revised vide Board’ 8 letter of even no.
dated: 24.66.1999 and the revised - rates were made
applicable w.e.f£. 1.7.1999,. However, the rates of
standard tea was not revised at that time, Zonal Railways
have been requesting Ministry of Railways to revise the
Material and cost of direct and indirect inputs. Use of
paper cups as Stipulated in the Board’ 8 commercial
Circular No. 16 of 1999 has further incréased the cost of
input, Ministry has also observed that even though rates

Railway Board Finance and it has been decided by the
Ministry of Railways to revise the tariff for tea/coffee, .

beverages sold through automatic vending machines,

Following are the revised rates for tea/coffee on
Zonal Railways both for static units and in trains:

The revised rates will come into effect from 1,.10.2000.
4, Zonal Railways should display and notify the revised
tariff at stations (in Refreshment Rooms/stalls) and also
through rate list in pantry cars, Waiters/Bearers should
also be given menu cards indicating revised rates.
Surprise checks should be conducted to exercise strict
regulation and control on the departmental units as well
as units managed by the licencees to ensure that there is
no overcharging and prescribed quantity only is served.
Under no circumstances railway should charge different
rates as rates of these items are determined at the
' Railway Board level. Any deficiency or slackness in this
regard should be viewed seriously and stringent action
taken against the defaulters.
. 3. -As recommended by some zonal rallways it has also
been decided to withdraw the services of deluxe menu
which was introduced w.e.f. 1.7.1999 since it was not
found successful and there were complaints OF
overcharging. ,
