Sub: Providing reserved accommodation in LSLRD
coaches of fully reserved trains such as Duronto
express trains.

Ref: Instructions issued vide Commercial Circular No. 23
of 2023, Commercial Circular No. 06 of 2024 and letter
No. 2023/TG-1/20/82 dated 17.03.2025.

In supersession of all the instructions cited above wherein the

guidelines for earmarking of accommodation in LSLRD coaches
attached in fully reserved trains like Duronto Express trains and
methodology to be adopted for catering facility had been issued, the
following has been decided: -

A new coach class code '2H' shall be defined in the system,
mapped to bogie type N-1/NS-1, representing the 2H/2H cum
Sleeper attached in LSLRD coach respectively. This class will be
equivalent to 2S but without having facility to opt for pre-paid
catering.

. The entire passenger portion of LSLRD coach having composite

composition shall be given Coach Identity “NS”, wherein 'N'
would be there for portion having 31/32 reserved 2H class
accommodation while ‘S’ would = stand for Sleeper
accommodation earmarked for Persons with Disabilities.

The portion of LSLRD earmarked for general passengers may be
fired as 2H reserved class only and the fare of that class for
that category of train may be charged accordingly.

In such trains, the reservation quota in Sleeper class for Persons

with Disabilities (PwDs) shall be earmarked only in the portion
of LSLRD earmarked for them on normal fare of the class
applicable for that train.

Due to technical reasons, both general passengers and PwD
passengers booked in SLRD portion (Sleeper class) of newly
defined 2H class will not have the option to choose pre-paid
catering facility.

Further, the unutilized sleeper class accommodation of this
portion shall be released at the time of preparation of first
reservation charts to such passengers of normal sleeper class
who have not opted for catering as in this case the fare paid by
both the passengers will be same. In such cases breach of
priority may occur as passengers booked earlier with catering
options may not be allotted berths while the passengers who
have not opted for catering but booked later may get
confirmed. However, keeping in view the technical design
aspects of LSLRD coaches where it is not feasible to provide
catering and. also the fact that number of vacant berths against
four berths earmarked for PwDs might be 0-4 and the
probability of Sleeper class passengers who will opt for pre-paid
catering is low, fractional cases of breach of priority, if any, may
be accommodated to provide intended facilities to the
passengers and to avoid complaints on this account.

Even if a single passenger has opted for catering, such
passenger may not be shifted to LSLRD coach. Onboard ticket
checking staff shall also be advised that no passenger who has
opted for catering should be shifted to LSLRD coach.

In situations where a coach is damaged and confirmed
passengers require relocation to a lower class, 2S confirmed
passengers may be shifted to 2H as there is no difference in
fare and also at present, pre-paid catering option is not
available in both the cases.

However, in no case splitting of passengers between 2S and 2H
shall be allowed for confirmed party due to functional and
structural constraints.

As far as upgradation is concerned, if there is waiting list in 2H
class and vacant 2S accommodation is available in the train,
they can be considered for upgradation to 2S.
