(COMMERCIAL CIRCULAR NO. 05 OF 2014) Sub: Scheme for upgradation of waiting list passengers. _ With a view to optimise the utilisation of available accommodation in a train, a scheme to upgrade full fare paying waiting list passengers to next higher class against the available vacant accommodation was introduced in the year 2006. At present, this scheme is available only in those Mail Express trains which are having sleeping accommodation. 2. The matter has been reviewed and it has been further decided that the above said scheme of upgrading waiting list passengers should be introduced in all Mail Express trains including those having only sitting accommodation. Upgradation in such trains will be restricted from sitting accommodation to sitting accommodation i.e. from reserved Second Class (28) to AC Chair Car (CC) or from CC to Executive Class. All other conditions applicable to present upgradation scheme ‘shall be applicable to these trains also. 3. CRIS will make necessary modification in the software and inform the date of effect to all Zonal Railways as well as this office which in any case will not be later than 01.04.2014. 4.
