Government of India Ministry of Railways ( Railway Board) : c No.99/1TG.1V/8/Barber/Policy New Dethi,dt a 2002 The General Managers All Zonal Railways" Commercial Circular No. 4 of 2002 Sub: Appointment of Barber at Railway stations. ~ In the recent past, a reference was received from Northern Railway | regarding terms & conditions of allotment of space for setting up Barber shop and Shoe Shining Licenses and the licence fee to be charged‘ from them. The matter पृ examined by the Board and detailed guidelines regarding shoe shine contract were issued to all Zonal Railways vide Board’s letter No.99/TGIV/8/Boot Polish/Policy dtd-23.3.99. Regarding allotment of space for barber shops, it was clarified that it is not desirab to lay down any policy guidelines as-the Ministry of Railways do not want to encourage provision of this facility. However, the license fee for the existing barber shops may be fixed by the railway in consultation with their FA & CAO keeping in view the gradual phasing out of this facility. Now a number of references are being received in Board’s office from various fora for allotinent of space at railway stations for barber shop. The matter has been reviewed in Board’s office and it has been decided that the above guidelines may also be followed by other railways. —2y— This has the concurrence of the Finance Directorate of this Ministry.
