Sub:- Utilisation of Saloon Car for tourism purpose on Indian Railways.
Ref :- (i) Commercial Circular No.28 of 2020
(ii) IRCTC’s letter No. 2017/IRCTC/Tourism/Saloon Car dated 28.12.2020.

The detailed guidelines for utilisation of saloon cars for tourism purpose have been issued vide
CC No.28 of 2020. Subsequent thereof, IRCTC, vide letter referenced at (ii) above, has
requested Board to review the guidelines and charging principles for saloon cars as issued vide
CC No.28/2020. The same have been reviewed further and following is advised:-

l. The Minimum Guaranteed Charges shall accrue after 6 months (180 days) from the date
of handing over the Saloon or the date of completion of refurbishment by IRCTC,

whichever is earlier.

In reference to calculation of detention charges, it is clarified that exemption on detention

charges for 36 hrs is to be given at each tourist halt/destination in the tour itinerary.

3. For calculation of FTR charges as advised vide para 1.3.2 of CC 28/2020, Service
Charge shall be levied @ 15% on base fare for saloon cars under this policy.

4. A maximum of 04 staff of IRCTC shall be allowed for undertaking hospitality services in

a saloon, subject to issue of Travelling Authority and Identity Card to prevent misuse of
this permission and unauthorised travel.
