Fixation of charter rates on Hill Railways Charter Charges for the composition of 1 FS +2 Second class + 1 SLR on Nilgiri Mountain Railway

In order to promote rail based tourism, Board has reviewed the hill charters and has decided to delegate the calculation of charges of charter trains on the Hill Railways to Zonal Railways. These instructions are in supersession of the letters referred above to the extent of charter rates / charging principles as well as bookings other than IRCTC. Now, general public can directly approach the Railways for booking of charter trains on FTR basis. The charging principles shall be as under: i. The minimum distance to be charged in each trip is 200 KM for one way trip and 400 km for round trip. ii. | Fare of Mail / Express to be charged. iii. Maximum permissible load on the train composition to be considered for calculation of haulage charges, i.e. if the proposed charter is with a lesser number of coaches than the maximum load, the difference in number of coaches may be charged notionally for second class coaches. The maximum permissible load on the section will be taken as the higher of the maximum permissible load for steam or diesel locos if there is a difference between the two. iv. Service and safety surcharge to be levied and the same is to be applied on the base fare. v. Coach, engine and SLR detention charges will be levied after giving a free time of five and a half hours. oe No empty haulage charges. ~Fhe seating capacity of SLR / Dinning car will be charged on the basis of a d class Mail Express fare with necessary service and safety surcharge. ggage portion of SLR not to be charged unless specifically requested and ilized. If luggage portion is not utilized then the same should be kept in cked condition. This may be mentioned in the FTR ticket. In case luggage ortion is utilized, it will be charged as per normal rules for the entire journey and not for part journey. The security deposit for general public will be Rs. 4,000/- per coach. o/c | wat pe | ix. The charges so calculated will be applicable from any station to any station irrespective of the distance. 2. On the basis of above principles, the charter charges for 1FS + 2SCZ + 1SLR combination has been worked out as an example and is attached Annexure I. 3. The minimum charges for one way trip and two way trips shall be Rs. 20,000/- and Rs. 40,000/- respectively. 4. The charter will be booked by IRCTC as well as general public / tour operators. The only difference in the charging principles will be that of the service charge. 5. The above instructions are valid for a period of one year and applicable to charter run effective from the date of issue of this letter. 6.
