When SM notices train without tail board/tail lamp he must intimate to the SM in advance by bell code (six pause two) that train is w/o last vehicle indication and SM in rear that the train has arrived incomplete (six pause three) and shall not clear the block section.

It is the duty of the guard to ensure that TL/TB is affixed only in the rear of the LV. (ii) The tail board of Red back ground with letters ‘LV’ in white colour or a turn over tail board painted with Red cross mark on white back ground in case of EMU stock. # Tail board/ Tail lamp GR/SR. 4.16 <!-- Slide number: 3 --> (iii) When vehicles are attached in rear brake van the tail board shall be attached to it. (iv) When an assisting engine is attached the tail board or tail lamp shall be fixed behind the assisting engine duly removed from the last vehicle. (v) For Light Engine or Coupled light Engine red marker light is LV indication. # Tail board/ Tail lamp. GR/SR. 4.16 <!-- Slide number: 4 --> LE moving in BS shall have marker lights “ON” showing RED indication in rear during day or night If 2 or more engines coupled, the rear most engine should have marker lights ‘ON’ showing red towards rear during day and night. Guards working on D/L sections observe TB or TL of passing trains and report at the next station when TB is missing or TL not burning. In emergencies only, and under special instructions in each case, a red flag may ne used in lieu of a TB or an unlit TL. <!-- Slide number: 5 --> # Responsibility of SM notices train passing without Tail Board / Tail Lamp. Where block proving axle counters are installed and functioning, SM may clear the block section but advise the station in advance to stop the train to see that the defect is remedied <!-- Slide number: 7 --> Double line/twin single lines sections where tracks are parallel, a) Stop all trains entering the block section on adjacent line, Issue caution order to GDLP to stop short of any obstruction. b) Advice SM in rear to issue similar caution order. c) Show Hand Danger Signal & alert the train crew by placing detonators. <!-- Slide number: 8 --> If a train has already entered the block section, then SM shall; 1. Advise gateman to stop the train & inform GDLP 2. Keep IBSS at ON & advise LP on SPT when contacted. 3. Advise TPC to switch off power. <!-- Slide number: 9 --> # Action by SM when Noticing unusual while passing/receiving a train <!-- Slide number: 10 --> # Hanging Part in Train Anything unusual like hanging part noticed, shall attempt to stop the train. Does not succeed, send six pause one bell code to station in advance. Intimate nature of irregularity noticed in the form of a telephone message. <!-- Slide number: 11 --> # BWM 3.3 (c) In D/L sections SM receiving 6 Pause 1 shall stop trains proceeding in opposite direction until it is safe to do so. Shall not take off reception stop signals for the train with unusual. Ascertain from GDLP regarding any unusual occurrence and then admit the train into the station if it is safe. SM shall also examine train coming in unsafe condition on arrival. Even run through trains be stopped out of course for this. <!-- Slide number: 12 --> # Following up action by SM When SM ensures no possibility of track or any other equipment affected on run then Send train out of block section signal to SM in rear followed by telephonic message. SM sending 6 Pause 1, notices unusual in a train, suspect caused obstruction or damage to the BS in rear. Advise PWI concerned.
