Sub:- Re-engagement of retired Railway staff on contract basis.
Refi- Board's letter No. E(NG)II/2024/RC-4/9 dated 15.10.2024 and 31.12.2024.

In terms of Board’s letters of even number cited under reference, all Zonal Railways/PUs &
RDSO were authorized to re-engage non-gazetted Railway staff retired in Pay Level-I to Pay Level-9
against the vacant posts subject to stipulation that he/she may be re-engaged against the post having the
same pay-level held by hinvher at the time of retirement.

2. It has now been decided that vacant non-gazetted posts in Pay Level-1 to Level 9 may be filled by
re-engagement of retired employees by calling volunteers who retired from posts in the same cadre /
category upto three Level higher than the post against which re-engagement is being considered subject
to the condition that the volunteers retired from the same Pay Level and found suitable will be given

preference over those retired from higher Pay Level.

35 Further, powers to re-engage retired employees will henceforth be exercised by Divisional
Railway Manager. The powers to re-engage retired staff at HQ level for vacancies in the HQ will
continue to be with GM. However, the power to decide overall number of retired employees to be re-
engaged shall continue to be with General Manager.

4. It is reiterated that any re-engagement should be done in exigency after due diligence.

6. This issues with the approval of Board and concurrence of Associate Finance of Ministry
