Skids used, where necessary
Slip siding points or traps, where provided, set to ensure safety
All precautions taken to prevent vehicles getting out of control
 In case of shunting over a portion of line on steep gradients, neither isolated nor protected by slip sidings; an engine is also attached towards the falling side of the gradient.

	Loose shunting means
 	vehicles/wagons
	being pushed by an engine
	and
	being allowed to run forward unattached
	on to a particular line.

(a) Dead engines
(b) I.S.M.D. loads
(c) Wagons with defective hand brake
(d) Wagons loaded with heavy machinery

# FLY SHUNTING
“Fly shunting” is a shunt movement in which two or more vehicles/wagons to be moved, after being given an impetus by an engine (with or without other vehicles/wagons attached) separated at  points, by points being reversed smartly between vehicles/wagons, in order to send them on to different lines, except at hump yards, fly shunting is strictly prohibited.

No engine allowed on any running line at a station occupied by a train carrying passengers, except

Shunting engine to perform shunting on that train.

	 20 metres
When shunting to be done for attaching or detaching locomotives/coaches/wagons, engine must first come to a halt 20 metres away from train/part of train and move thereafter.

Vehicles containing passengers not be removed for shunting purpose without personal instructions of SM.
If  two or more hand signals are in use, LP stop at once if signals are contrad
