Sub: Frequent request for closing of wagon doors after unloading
Ref: This office letter dated 16.01.2023
In spite of repeated requests to refrain from requesting the assistance of C&W staff for closing
of wagon doors at loading/unloading points, the system is still continuing and are quite
frequent of late. On 10.03.2023 a similar request was given by the commercial control and
Dy. Goods mentioning that the loading party is unable to close 07 BCNHL wagon doors at
DBU and C&W staff was deputed from SGT wagon depot for attention and it was observed
that all the doors were closing easily and one wagon no. BCNHL 33151484528 (5th from TE)
sliding door wheel was shifted due to rough handling by the unloading staff.
In view of the above, it is requested to impose suitable penalty on the unloading party at DBU
for abuse of one wagon door and also not ensuring proper closing of door after the unloading
work.
Kindly note that since there is acute shortage of manpower in the branch, the request for
attention of C&W defects at non TXR points shall be given judiciously as it will affect the
regular maintenance activities of the depots.
Further it is requested to advise the commercial stafi/SM(if commercial staff is not available)
at the loading/unloading points to ensure that the loading/unloading parties close the wagon
doors properly after loading/unloading activity before accepting the release of the rake and
also refrain from requesting assistance of C&W staff, unless felt absolutely necessary
