SUB: Provision of maximum limit for booking of Luggage in parcel and
luggage space of Luggage van/parcel van.

REF: Central Railway’s letter no. C/562/GT/Over carriage dated
17.09.2024 and 27.09.2024.

In reference to above referred letter the matter has been examined in
consultation with Zonal Railways and it has been decided to prescribe the
maximum limit for booking of luggage in parcel and luggage space, of
SLR/SLRD/LSRD/LWLRRM/Parcel Vans etc, as under:

(i). On AC and first class tickets:
(a). Non-household effects: 500 kg.
(b). Household effects: 1000 kg.

(ii). On Non-AC class tickets:
(a). Non-household effects: 300 kg.
(b). Household effects: 500 kg.

However, if household consignment is more than the above prescri‘ved
limit on account of transfer cases, a certificate in this regard may be obtained
for relaxation in booking of Household consignments as luggage and the
same may be booked beyond the above prescribed limit with the permission
of CPSR (Commercial Supervisor).

The above shall be implemented with effect from 15.12.2024 on an
experimental basis for three months.

The impact on above may be assessed after 15.02.2025 and the
assessment details may be sent to this office by 28.02.2024 for further
review.

Necessary instructions may be issued to all concerned accordingly.
