SUB: Restrictions on booking of empty gas cylinders in luggage Van/Generator car
with luggage space/parcel vans attached in passenger carrying trains.
REF: 1. Relevant provisions of IRCA Coaching Tariff Part 1 (Vol1).
2. This office Freight marketing circular no. 10 of 2009 dated 21.04.2009.

Vide note l(a) of para 505 (8) of IRCA coaching Tariff Part 1 (Vol 1) it has
been mentioned that “Empty gas-cylinders shall not be carried in passenger
compartment as luggage, although the same may be booked in brake van.”
Ministry of Railways has reviewed the above provision and decided not to
allow booking of empty gas cylinders in luggage vans/generator van with luggage
space and parcel vans attached in passenger carrying trains with immediate effect.
Accordingly, “Gas cylinders whether full or empty shall not be allowed to
be transported either in passenger compartment or be booked in luggage
Van/Generator cars with luggage space/parcel vans attached in passenger
carrying trains.”, except as mentioned in the note 2(a) of para 514 of IRCA
coaching Tariff (part 1(Vol 1) (Oxygen cylinder with its supporting stand with
patients)
Necessary instructions may be issued to all concerned accordingly.
