Summary

# Disaster Preparedness
164 ARMVs and 171 Accident Relief trains ARTs, are positioned at strategic locations which cover the entire rail network of Indian Railways for rushing to accident sites on top priority, along with doctors, para medical staff, rescue workers and engineers
ARTs and ARMVs are rail mounted and located at stations where Railways have    	suitably trained staff.
Proper maintenance of Accident Relief Medical Vans/ Equipments (ARMVs/ARMEs) & Accident Relief Trains (ARTs)
Timely movement of ARMEs & ARTs for the site of accident

# ARMV Scale - I
ARMV SCALE – I
Conventional Two Coach Consist
Self Propelled Two Coach Consist (SPARMV)
Self Propelled Three Coach Consist  (SPART)
Positioned so as to Cover 150 to 200 KMS
Total 164 ARMV SACLE-I are in place.
Of Which 68 are Self Propelled(Norm - One in Each Division)
Of Which 56 are Three Coach Consist
Fit to run at 110 Kmph

# ARMV Scale - I
ARMV is made up of  2 to 3  coaches containing an Operation Theatre, a 20 bedded recovery ward, medicine cabinets,179 life saving drugs, portable defibrillator, collapsible coffins, body bags ,wrist bands etc.*
ARMVs are stationed every 160 to 200 kms. apart at major junctions.
Doctors and paramedics are always in readiness to go by ARMV.
Other officers also leave by ARMV which is dispatched first.
These are stabled in a siding ( direct exit in both Up and Dn directions ideally).
Turn out time of ARME with double exit 15 minutes.
Turn out time of ARME with single exit 20 minutes.

# ARME Scale -II
Equipment stored in boxes in Special room on platform at station.
Chests containing medical equipment are kept at nominated junction stations 75 to 100 kms apart. (ARME Scale II- 320 no.)
3 sets of POMKA (Portable Medical Kit for Accident) & additional items.
Strategically located. Scale II room has duplicate keys- with Doctor and SM/ DY SS .
Medical equipment are kept sealed without any lock.
These are rushed to the site of an accident.
Tools, stores and equipment provided in ARMVs and ARMEs are periodically reviewed and updated

ART consists of 9 to 10 coaches + wagons including :
140T crane,
hydraulic jacks, re – railing equipment, gas cutters, cold cutters,
P – way materials,
Electric lighting,
S&T communication equipment,
staff coaches etc.
