Commercial Circular no“ of 2001 oor 001 | (Amendment to Commercial Circular tio. 20 of 2001 dated 22.3.200 I) This is with reference to Commercial Circular No. 20 of 2001 dated .22.3.2001 regarding Procurement and Supply of “Packaged Drinking Water” on Indian Railways as per revised specification of BIS 14543:1998 in line with the Gazette Notification issued. by Department of Health of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. . : ~ On receipt of a reference from Western Railway certain provisions contained in para 7 of the above policy circular relating to procurement and supply of packaged drinking water by the private licensees operating in railway premises including trains have been reviewed by the Board. . . It has been decided that the tender pro it of packaged drinking water_by_ private licensees, Accordingly para 7 of the Commercial Circular no. 20 of 2001 is modified as under: - 7.1 The shortlisting of manufacturers and their brands as per packet ‘A’ under the tendering process for departmental procurement will not be applicable to procurement of packaged drinking water by private licensees. ं ः 7.2... For non-departmental catering units in railway premises, private licensees should be allowed to market any brand of packaged drinking water either in bottles or in packets provided the manufacturers of the product are certified by BIS and necessary licence issued. The containers should have IST mark on them ं ः 7.3... The sale of packaged drinking water (chilled) on railway premises, including trains, — - will continue to be soid @ Rs.10/- per 1000nu, bottle. yf 7.4 — Railways will continue to exercise inspections and checks under Quality Control and _ PFA, both for departmental as well as private licencees as per the guidelines contained in Para 9 and 10 of the policy Circular.
