Sub: Time Limit for Advance Reservation
-----

Please refer to this office letter of even number dated 24/01/2007 on the
subject quoted above (Commercial Circular No.12 of 2007) wherein the Advance
Reservation Period (ARP) was enhanced from 60 days to 90 days on an
experimental basis for three months.

The matter has been reviewed and it has been decided to continue with the
enhanced ARP of 90 days for another three months on an experimental basis. A
review of bookings made during the period from 01/03/2007 to 31/07/2007 will
be done in the first week of August 2007 to take a decision regarding continuation
of this enhanced ARP. For this purpose CRIS will furnish the details of booking
made during this period by 06-08-2007 indicating the percentage of booking
made during the 15 days period i.e. 76 to 90 days in advance, 61 to 75 days in
advance and so on. Zonal Railways should send their experience with enhanced
ARP alongwith their comments/views for continuation of ARP of 90 days or
otherwise by 06/08/2007 to enable a final decision being taken in the matter.

As mentioned in earlier instructions also, there will be no change in the
case of certain day time express trains like Taj Express, Gomti Express etc. where
lower time limits for advance reservations are at present in force. There will also
be no change in the case of the limit of 360 days for foreign tourists.

Board desire that the above change may be given wide publicity. Suitable
instructions may be issued to all concerned
