                         Sub:  Earmarking of Reservation Quota for Women & Senior 
Citizens.

Please refer to this office letter of even number dated 18/04/2007 
on the subject quoted above (Commercial Circular No.40 of 2007) 
wherein instructions were issued regarding earmarking of combined 
quota of two lower berths per coach in Sleeper, AC – 3 tier and AC – 2 
tier for following categories of passengers when travelling alone: - 
 
a) 
Sr. Citizens; 
b) 
Female passengers 45 years of age and above; 
c) 
Pregnant Women. 
 
In para 3 of the instructions, it was indicated that this scheme 
may be implemented on an experimental basis for six months and a 
report may be sent after three months to enable a final decision being 
taken in the matter.   
 
Based on the feedback received from some Zonal Railways, the 
matter has been reviewed and it has been decided that the scheme of 
earmarking of combined quota of two lower berths per coach in Sleeper, 
AC – 3 tier and AC – 2 tier for the above mentioned category of 
passengers may be continued till further orders.

विषय: महिलाओं एवं वरिष्ठ नागरिकों के लिए आरक्षण कोटा चिन्हित करना.

कृपया ऊपर उद्धृत विषय पर इस कार्यालय के 18/4/2007 के समसंख़्यक पत्र
(2007 का वाणिज्यिक परिपत्र सं. 40) का अवलोकन करें, जिसमें यह अनुदेश जारी
किए गए थे कि निम्नलिखित कोटियों के यात्रियों हेतु, जब वे अकेले यात्रा कर रहे हों,
शायिका, वातानुकूल 3 टियर और वातानुकूल 2 टियर में प्रति सवारी डिब्बा दो निचली
शायिकाओं का संयुक्त कोटा चिन्हित किया जाए:-

क) IRS नागरिक्र; .

ख) 45 वर्ष की आयु और अधिक की महिला यात्री ;

ग)..... गर्भवती महिलाएं.

इन अनुदेशों के पैरा 3 में, यह दर्शाया गया था कि यह योजना छः महीने के लिए
प्रयोगात्मक आधार पर कार्यान्वित की जाए और इस मामले में अंतिम निर्णय लिए जाने
हेतु तीन महीने के बाद एक रिपोर्ट भेजी जाए.

कुछ क्षेत्रीय रेलों से प्राप्त फीडबैक के आधार पर मामले की पुनरीक्षा की गई है
और यह विनिश्चिय किया गया है कि यात्रियों की ऊपर उल्लिखित कोटि के लिए शायिका,
वातानुकूल 3 टियर और वातानुकूल 2 टियर में प्रति सवारी डिब्बा दो निचली शायिक
