Sub: Priority as per warrant of precedence to Hon’ble
Chairman/Member of UPSC at the time of railway
reservation/travel.
The secretary, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has advised that
Hon’ble Chairman/Members have been assigned positions under Article 9A and
11 respectively in the warrant of Precedence vide Ministry of Home Affair’s O.M.
No.12/4/2007-Public, dated 20° June, 2007 (copy enclosed)
2. It is requested that necessary instructions may be issued to all concerned
for information and compliance.

Union Public Service Commission is a Constitutional Body established under
Article 315 of the Constitution of India and entrusted with the responsibilities of
conducting examination, making recruitment/appointment for all Civil Posts under
the Union of India, rendering advice on disciplinary matters and induction of State
Service Officers to All India Services.
2. In order to fulfill their constitutional obligation, Hon'ble Chairman/Members of
UPSC are required to visit different parts of the country for presiding over DPCs and
SCMs as also to observe the conduct of various UPSC Exams.
3. Hon’ble Chairman/ Members of UPSC are enjoying the same pay and perks as
admissible to Hon’ble Judges of Supreme Court, Chief Election Commissioner,
Election Commissioners and C&AG and accordingly have been assigned positions
under Article 9A and 11 respectively in the warrant of Precedence vide Ministry of
Home Affair’s OM No. 12/4/2007-Public, dated 20% June, 2007. A copy of MHA’s
above referred OM is annexed.
