. Please reir to this offic Jetter of even number dated 07-64-1999
on the subject quoted above enciosing therewith a. copy of Tatkal
Scheme. South Eastern Railway while referring to the scheme ‘has
sought clarification on certain points regarding Tatkal Scheme. Point -
Wisé clarification is as Under: . ः
Point raised:
As per extant instructions passengers who book their tickets on
Tatkal Service gre -hscires to carry the requisite identification which
will be. checked by ticket checking staff on train, In case the passenger
doés not produce. the authority on the basis of which reservation was _
‘s0ught he would be treated as travelling without ticket and penalty,
should be iniposed: However, it is requested to Clarify whether after
charging of penalty, berths can be allotted to such passengers in the
Tatkal Coach. . की
Clas ification:
AS per extant instructions all passengers who have booked their
tickets on talkal service are required to carry the proof-of identity on’
which he/she has purchased the ticket, failing which. he/she will be
treated as ‘tfavelling without ticket and penalty may be“imposed as per
extant rules applicable for the train in whiek the passenger is travelling.
The above Clarification, wes issued vide letter No, 93/TG-I20/ P/Tatkal
dated 16.10.98. However, it was hot clarified in these instructions
whether such Passenger will be allowed to retain the accommodation
after charging benalty. Jt is Clarified that such passengers may be
allowed to retain ¢ieir allotted berths/seats after charging penalty.

Whether passengers, holding-—ticket- of a—ower class can be
considered for sccommodation ‘in Tatkal coach of a higher class. ,
Railway has suggested that this should be permitted after collection of
the difference of fare and the requisite Tatkal premium for the higher
Class. However, such passengers should be required’ to producé the
requisite identification as prescribed under Tatkal Scheme

in case of a passenger holding’ a ticket for lower class and
intending ‘to wavel in Tatkal Coach (in any class) of the same train that -
