Sub: Running of special trains

_ _Please. refer to this office letter of even number dated: 24.04.2015 (CC. no. 26 of
2015) wherein Zonal Railways weré advised the procedure regarding running of special .
trains with separate rules and fare structure

2, The matter has been further examined and the following issues are clarified:-
ह). — These trains will be fully reserved trains

(ii) Thé Advance Reservation Period of these trains can be with a minimum petiod of

10 days to maximum period of 60 days, which is to be decided by the Zonal

Railways, keeping in view the demand pattern and with the approval of Chief
Commercial Manager.

(iii) Fare structure of these trains will be on the pattern of Mail/Express trains, In
.. addition to fare, ‘special’ charges will be realised which will be fixed as a
_ percentage of fare at the rate of 10% of basic fare for second class and 30% of’
basic fare for all other classes subject to minimum and maximum as given in the

table below:- |

(iv) . The tickets will be issued for actual distance of travel, subject to the distance
restriction applicable to the train. .

(v) The minimum distance criteria for booking tickets in these trains will be as under:

- FA & CAO, All Zonal Railways.
Director (Audit), All Zonal Railways.

(vi) In case the total run of the train is less than the distance restriction, in that case the‘ }
end to end fare i.e. from originating to destination station will be charged
(vii) Zonal Railways should assess the demand pattern for both onward and return
directions of the run. In case the demand is there for both the directions, normal
. . fare plus ‘Special charges’ shall be levied for both the directions; However, if the
demand is only in one direction, normal fare plus ‘Special charges’ shall be levied
for one direction and for other direction for which there is less‘ démand, normal
fare can be charged. Decision in this regard shall be taken with the approval of
Chief Commercial Manager
(viii) No concessional/pre-bought booking will be allowed in these special trains
- (ix) There will be no separate Tatkal quota in these trains. However, Zonal Railways
may provide for Premium Tatkal quota, if there is demand, by suitably defining
the number of coaches .
(x) Cluster bookings, BPT booking, block booking, current booking will also be
allowed in these trains
(xi) | Except for the fare, which will be charged as mentioned above, general ticket rules
will be applicable during further transactions on tickets booked in these trains e.g
cancellation, modification, duplicate ticket ‘issue/cancellation, refund of
fare/difference, etc | i
(xii) Supplementary charges like reservation fee, superfast surcharge, service tax, mela
surcharge ete will be levied separately.
(xiii) This special service will be in addition to Premium/other prescribed special
- services
(xiv) Booking of these trains will be allowed from counter as well as from internet.
(xv) Since except for the fare, all other general booking rules are applicable in these ©
trains, it is desired that these trains may simply be called as ‘Special Trains’.
