The Chief Operating Manager/General Manager,
Metro Rail,
Kolkata
Sub: 60% Concession in Kolkata, Metro trains to Students attending
Schools/Madrasa/Vocational institutions.
As announced by Hon’ble MR on 3.7.2009 in the Budget Speech for 2009-10, it has
been decided that 60% concession in the fares of Metro Rail Kolkata will be granted on the
same terms and conditions as mentioned in the IRCA Coaching Tariff No.25 Part-I (Vol.I).
These concessional Monthly Season Tickets will be issued to both boy and girl students
studying in schools/Madrasas/recognized vocational institutions upto classes academically
equivalent to class XII.

Concessions will be granted directly from Metro Stations on production of prescribed
certificate from the Head of the concerned Schools or Madrasas or vocational Institutions which
are
i)
Recognized by Education Department of Government of West Bengal, or
ii)
Recognized by Central Government (Ministry of Education), or
iii)
Are affiliated to recognized Universities.
3.
The concessional Monthly Season Tickets will be issued to students for commuting daily
between the station serving the place of residence and school/Madrasa/Vocational Institute.
The procedure of obtaining the concession books by the schools/Madrasas/Vocational
Institutions will be the same as outlined in the IRCA Coaching Tariff No.25 Part-I (Vol.I) . The
Concession books would have to be made available by the Office of the Chief Operating
Manager, Metro Rail, Kolkata.

This issues with the concurrence of the Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways.
Wide publicity through various media may be given at regular intervals. Necessary instructions
may be issued to all concerned immediately and implementation ensured with effect from
01.08.2009.
5.
Metro Rail may advise the fare structure for the above concessional Monthly Season
Tickets for notification by Board before implementation of this scheme.
