Sub: Concession to students for attending examination conducted by
Central Staff Selection Commissions and Union Public Service
Commission.
As announced by MR on 26.2.2007 in his Budget Speech for 2007-08,
Ministry of Railways have decided to Grant 50% concession in Second Class to
students for appearing in Main written examinations conducted by Union Public
Service Commission and Central Staff Selection Commissions. The students of
educational institutions recognized by Ministry of Education, Government of India
or the Education Department of the concerned state Government and colleges
affiliated to recognized Universities shall be eligible for this concession.

The Head Master/Head Mistress/Principal will issue the requisite student’s
concession certificate to concerned student of his/her School/College, for travel
from the station serving the school/college to the station serving the place of
Main written examination and return. He/She will specifically mentioned on the
certificate(s) that the concerned student is going for appearing in main written
examination conducted by Central Staff Selection Commission or Union Public
Service Commission or is returning after appearing in Main written examinations
conducted by central Staff Selection Commission or Union Public Service
Commission, as the case may be.

The concessional tickets shall be issued directly by Station Manager of the
concerned station on production of the above mentioned certificate, alongwith the
photo copy of Admit Card for concerned main written examination.
4.
This concession will be granted in Second class only and not in sleeper
class.
5.
As per the normal rules, concession will be admissible in basic
Mail/Express fares only and all other charges (i.e. reservation fee, superfast
surcharge, etc.), as applicable, will be realized in full.
6.
Concession will be admissible subject to other rules, applicable for
concession to students, contained in IRCA Coaching Tariff No. 25, Part I (Vol. II).

These instructions will come into effect on tickets issued from 01.04.2007.

8.
Necessary instructions may be issued to all concerned immediately and
implementation ensured at all ticket booking offices, both reserved and
unreserved. Necessary changes should also be ensured well in time in the
software of PRS, UTS, etc. Wide publicity through various media may be given
at regular intervals. This issues with the concurrence of Finance Directorate of
Ministry of Railways.
